Alhamdulillah. Unofficially graduated.

Alhamdulillah. Today, I completed my last final examination paper and final year project oral presentation. I'm fully satisfied with both. Everything went well, much better than what I expected in my mind earlier.

I went to the multipurpose hall for the final examination at around 8.15 am. The examination started at 9.00 am, but I was too excited to finish it up once and for all. At 11.30 am, I went out of the examination hall. My fingers were still a little bit cramped all over at that time cause I tried to write as fast as I can. I rechecked the paper only once and that's it. I want to stay longer, but I had another thing to catch up with at 12.40 pm - my final presentation.

One of my colleagues, Zaid was still presenting his project when I arrived at the presentation venue. At 12.10 noon, he completed his presentation. I started my presentation at 12.15 noon and ended it at 12.45. Got few questions mostly from internal lecturer. External examiner was really kind and supportive. He gave a few recommendations on how to improve the project. I think this session was much better than the poster presentation last month. :)

As soon as I completed my presentation, I called my mother. I was really happy and satisfied the moment I said "Mum, I've finished everything today". (in my own dramatic dialect, of course). Oh, btw I still have to print the final reports and give them some "hardbound" touches. :P

I'm very happy right now but deep in my heart I know I'll be going out for the real life journey after this. To think of it further will make me worry so much but for now, thank you Allah for giving me chance to complete my study with a happy ending. I couldn't have done it without time, good health and spirit that You've given. Alhamdulillah.

On Caffeine + No productivity

It's almost 3.15 am in the morning (25/4/2009) - and I am still wandering around my computer without productivity. Someone asked me to design a book cover for her new novel (with certain payment to be discussed later) - but I still have no inspiration about it. I wanted to start doing it today nonetheless I failed. Maybe caffeine affects me so much, my head feels so empty. I don't feel like sleeping too. [moral value: do not drink too much coffee!]

The last thing I remember after I did my GPE test was creating this image:

...and I love this one. Still, I don't have any idea to create the book cover. I hope the idea will come later...insya Allah. If it is successful, this will be my first big project. Wish me luck!

p/s: I didn't expect myself to be a regular user of Photoshop few years back, but now I think creating something with Photoshop is very enjoyable, and getting something from it is just a bonus. Btw, I won third place in Poster Competition organized by Rakan Muda UTP during the "Siswa Benci Dadah" campaign recently :)

Happy Earth Day!

Happy Earth Day!

Help to save the world as much as we can, because it is dying...

p/s: Thanks to my best buddy who treated me with coconut shake and roti john yesterday, at pasar malam (might be the last pasar malam in UTP). Why he suddenly being sweet? Ask him for detail. Hint: maybe because he is surrounded by sweetness all around him? :P

Ah, I'm going for the test now. Gas Process Engineering...wish me luck. I need lots of luck for this course.. :(

Are you happy?

I found these beautiful thankfulness words from my friend in DeviantART, and I thought it would be nice to share them with you here.

I am happy:

For the wife who says it's hot dogs tonight because
she is home with me and not out with someone else.

For the husband who is on the sofa being a couch potato
because he is home with me and not out at the bars.

For the teenagers who are complaining about doing dishes
because it means they are at home and not on the streets.

For the taxes I pay
because it means I am employed.

For the mess to clean after a party
because it means I have been surrounded by friends.

For the clothes that fit a little too snug
because it means I have enough to eat.

For my shadow that watches me work
because it means that I am out in the sunshine.

For a lawn that needs mowing, windows that need cleaning,
and gutters that need fixing because it means I have a home.

For all the complaining I hear about the government
because it means we have freedom of speech.

For the parking spot I find at the far end of the lot
because I am capable of walking and I have been blessed
with transportation.

For my huge heating bill
because it means I am warm.

For the lady behind me who sings off key
because it means I can hear.

For the pile of laundry and ironing
because it means I have clothes to wear.

For weariness and aching muscles at the end of the day
because it means I have been capable of working hard.

For the alarm that goes off in the early morning hours
because it means I am alive...

Are you happy? Whatever you do, I hope you are.

+About Friendship+

This is not my thoughts, it is from a professional photographer in DeviantART, Pavi (from Finland). I really admire the way she describes friendship, in a very meaningful and truthful way.

I have thought about friendship a lot recently.

To me a (true) friend is a person whom I can count on. A friend is someone who is there for you when you have hard times. Also a friend shares the joy with you and encourages you. A friend shows you respect and understands you and your choices. Trust is an important part in this bond. A friend doesn't judge your personality. If she/he criticizes you, it's for a good reason and you know it. If they hurt you for some reason (it happens sometimes), they apologize and try to make it up to you.

A friend is someone you can laugh with, or cry with. A friend is someone you can have fun with. You don't have to worry what she/he thinks of you. You don't have to fear their reactions towards you. You don't have to be unsure if they like you or not. You know in your heart that they do. And they know you like them and respect them. Everything you want them to do for for you, you do for them.

A good and trusted friend is really hard to find. Sometimes you think you have found one but it wasn't real. Some are just using you for selfish reasons and it makes you feel very hurt inside. When you find a friend, the one who makes you happy and helps you strive for everything you believe in, you have found a rare treasure. It's a miracle you don't want to lose.

If you have true friends like that right now, appreciate and show them love! They deserve it. You'll lose nothing but can gain everything..

These are my thoughts.. what about yours?

Have a nice :sun:day!

p.s: It is indeed very hard to find true friends. If you have true friends, be grateful and do appreciate them endlessly.

Regrets...and appreciation.

Life, sometimes is full of regrets:

  • You like someone very much, but you don't have the courage to tell her that you like her. You live without any regret until one day, you know that she used to like you in the past, but it's already too late.

  • You want to be close to someone so badly, but at the same time, you know that 'that someone' will be hurt even more than you do if you continue to be together. You keep your feeling of wanting to be together without regrets, until one day, the person is no longer with you.

  • You want to treat everyone equally, in term of love and care, but you know, no matter what you couldn't do that, because everyone is different, and they also treat you differently from the others. You live without any regret, until one day, the person that you treat with love and care doesn't even care about you.

But the truth is, life is good enough to be appreciated:

  • You know that even if you're not with someone you like, it is good enough to see them happy. Her smile at least will make you smile.

  • You can't possibly be close to everyone, because not everyone would like to be close to you too, but at some point, you will be able to realize that it is good enough to have some good friends, rather than thousands of them that will become your worst enemy at anytime.

  • You keep thinking that your life is not good enough, you keep wanting something more and more, but this morning you saw in the media that a lot of other people are suffering in the other part of the world. You realize something important here....
Enjoy your life as long as you can because life is short, and there is no reason for you not to be happy in that short moment of life. =D

Be strong...

Jang geum:
I can't go out
I am like the people who were abandoned here
I am just like them

I have been abandoned by the others
I have been abandoned by my colleagues
What did I do wrong?
I did not harm anyone
I'm only walking on the path i need to walk
Until now, I have been persevering and persevering
I have been bearing with all the hardship

Now I can't take it anymore
I can't persevere anymore
I was abandoned
I was rejected
I can't take this
I feel lost
I feel that I am floating in the air and I can't find my ground
What did I do wrong?
What did I do wrong?

Min Jio-Ho:
You did nothing wrong
It just that you have yet another wall
you need to cross over
This is the war of people

Perhaps the more credits you have
That wall will be higher and higher
You need to find a way to cross it
No matter how much credits you have
If you cannot cross the wall
Then all of your effort will be wasted.

Jang geum:
I don't have faith.
No, I have lost all my faith

Min Jio-Ho:
It is alright if you don't have faith
As long as you give your heart in all that you do
You must stand up again
I don't like to see you give up so easily.
You must get out of here.

- Dae Jang Geum, Episode 51.

Somebody, be Min Jio-Ho for me, please. =p

Forgive and forget

“In life only one thing is certain, apart from death and taxes: no matter how hard you try, no matter how good your intentions, you are going to make mistake. You are going to hurt people. you are going to get hurt. and if you ever want to recover, theres really only one thing you can say… forgive and forget. That’s what they say. It’s good advice, but it’s not very practical. When someone hurts us, we want to hurt them back. when someone wrongs us, we want to be right. without forgiveness old scores never settle. old wounds never heal, and the most we can hope for is that someday we’ll be lucky enough to forget.”-Grey's Anatomy

In all honesty, no matter how hard we try, we will never forget. And maybe it's a good thing that we don't. By forgetting, you don't learn from it. By forgiving, you grow into a better person. Of course forgiving is not always as easy as it may seem. Sometimes people do or say things that are just not so easily forgiven. But the keyword in that sentence is PEOPLE. People are humans. Humans make mistakes. Humans have faults. Humans will disappoint you. It’s part of being a human.

Sometimes when you're hurt, you forget that the person who hurt you is a human. You become clouded by this anger and rage and then fail to realize that they're just being human. Of course it's also human to get hurt, to feel pain and disappointment. You then don't want to forgive because you want the others to know that they've wrong you and you want them to see it. You want them to feel the pain that they've caused you. Unfortunately, not all will. By forgiving you are releasing the pain that will eventually consume you if you don't.

"Why should I forgive and let them get away with what they've done?" That's a question I always asked when someone would tell me to just let it go. Then I realized that by keeping it in me, I was just hurting myself even more. You've ever noticed that when something is really bothering you, you can't seem to stop thinking about it? It takes up your day and distracts you from everything else you need to do. You then become caught up this need to seek out revenge or "pay back". You then become stressed, tense and irritable and in the end you're just one big mess. Never give someone that much power over you. By forgiving them, you're telling them that you're on a more advance level. You're giving them pardon for their misdoings.

Now like I said earlier, just because you forgive doesn't necessarily need to forget what happened. In fact, I urge you not to forget. When I say not to forget, I don't mean dwell on it either. I mean keep it as a reference. Keep it stored away for when you happen to be in a very similar predicament. Embrace it and make it your own. I know you're probably wondering "what is she talking about?" But seriously speaking, don't forget about it. If you forget about it you will not learn anything from it. I don't care what anyone says, you can always learn something from a bad incident. You can learn how to have a thick skin about certain things. You've learned a new way in which people can get under your skin.

By learning this, you can also learn how to prevent this pain in the future. You can create a new security system that will tell you "Hey wait! You've been through this before. Get out now before you get hurt again." You see how that works. So don't get hung up on getting even and seeking revenge. Try not to let people make you into your own worse enemy. Just take it as it is and try and get as much as you can from it because that's the only way you'll be able to grow.

Quotes of the day...

''Love is wanting happiness and everything that is good for your loved one. Love is not wanting someone, it's wanting what is best for them. I don't care if she is with someone else, as long as she is happy. Knowing that she is happy is all I need. It's about sacrifice. I would make the ultimate sacrifice for my loved one. Not only would I take a bullet for her, but I would put a bullet in myself to protect her. '' -about love and sacrifice, too good if it is true!

''At the end of the day, when it comes down to it, all we really want is to be close to somebody. So this thing where we all keep our distance and pretend not to care about each other, it's usually a load of bull. So we pick and choose who we want to remain close to, and once we've chosen those people, we tend to stick close by. No matter how much we hurt them... The people that are still with you at the end of the day, those are the ones worth keeping. And sure, sometimes close can be too close. But sometimes, that invasion of personal space, it can be exactly what you need.'' - Greys Anatomy

''Pain, you just have to ride it out, hope it goes away on its own, hope the wound that caused it heals. There are no solutions, no easy answers, you just breath deep and wait for it to subside. Most of the time pain can be managed but sometimes the pain gets you where you least expect it. Hits way below the belt and doesn't let up. Pain, you just have to fight through, because the truth is you can't outrun it and life always makes more.'' - Greys Anatomy

''Maybe we're not supposed to be happy. Maybe gratitude has nothing to do with joy. Maybe being grateful means recognizing what you have for what it is. Appreciating small victories. Admiring the struggle it takes to simply be human. Maybe, we're thankful for the familiar things we know. And maybe we're thankful for the things we'll never know. At the end of the day, the fact that we have the courage to still be standing is reason enough to celebrate. '' - Greys Anatomy

I miss Grey's Anatomy show so much! When is the new season coming up? *sigh*..~

An inspiration

The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched, they must be felt with the heart.

- Helen Keller, the first deafblind person that graduated from college.

Just some thoughts...about perfection

Setiap orang tidak sempurna,

mungkin sebab itulah

Tuhan jadikan orang itu

pelbagai ragam dan sikap

supaya masing-masing menyempurnakan

antara satu sama lain.

Belajarlah menerima

ketidaksempurnaan orang lain,

orang lain pasti akan menerima

ketidaksempurnaan kita.

Dalam pada masa yang sama,

berusahalah untuk menjadi lebih sempurna.

Walau mungkin kesempurnaan

itu sukar untuk dicapai,

sekurang-kurangnya kita akan menjadi lebih baik.

Jangan hanya menerima ketidaksempurnaan,

Some quotes and thoughts...

Among those heartless glances, just remember that there will always be trustful and thoughtful care.

No matter how successful you are, you can't live in this world alone.

There will always be hope no matter how small is the light of hope. Don't give up no matter what!

Jangan dipuji sebelum diuji,
Jangan dikeji sebelum dikaji.

Satu sen yang benar,
Lebih baik daripada sejuta yang palsu.
